Digital technologist. Analog heart.
JDL Quake (Juan Coleman) is a Cape Town DJ who has been behind the decks since 1995, moving across hard-hitting drum & bass and breaks through to sunset chill and ambient downtempo, with techno, dubstep, and hip-hop turning up along the way. He co-founded Sound Squad in 2005, alongside its New Year's Revolutions festival, and has co-run the XXXL Bass Show and mixtape series with DJ Microstripe since 2010. He is a longtime resident at Cape Town's Cold Turkey and formerly coordinated the DMC DJ Championships South Africa. Equally comfortable on vinyl, reel-to-reel, or digital rigs, he approaches every set vinyl-first.
