Felix Laband is a South African producer whose work channels the dislocated, disquieting reality of growing up in Apartheid-era South Africa into intricate musical and visual collage. Across five albums he builds theatres of naive wonder, dark humour, and sudden violence, sculpted with the surgical patience of a late-night obsessive. He is known for taking scissors to his own back catalogue, reworking it against experimental, ambient, and classical soundscapes as often as he releases new material, and for treating archives, history, and politics as source material as much as sound. His music has been released through African Dope Records and Compost Records, and he has drawn festival bookings from Nachtdigital and Garbicz to Sonar South Africa.
