Carl Cox is a techno, tech house, and acid house pioneer from London, England, of Barbadian heritage, active since the 1980s and now based in Melbourne, Australia. He rose through the UK's acid house and rave scene, famed for his three-deck mixing on Technics 1200/1210 turntables, and built a legendary 15-year residency at Space Ibiza (2001-2016) that helped define the club's global reputation. He founded Intec Records in 1999 (relaunched as Intec Digital in 2010), plus Awesome Records and 23rd Century Records, and has run the Carl Cox & Friends stage at Ultra Music Festival for over a decade. His breakthrough single "I Want You (Forever)" reached the UK top 30 in 1991, and his 1995 mix F.A.C.T. remains a touchstone techno mix.
